Android phones are one of the hottest commodities in the world now and many people are hankering over one of them. It is one of the hottest mobile operating systems beside the popular iOperating System by Apple. Many people would go to their local phone store to purchase an Android Phone to useAnother hot commodity would be Viber for the phones. It allows you to call and text for free as long as the other party has Viber too. In the last post we talked about the steps to install Viber on your PC using Android emulator which in turn needs you to install Java on your PC. You should read the tutorial on how to install Java first if you haven’t done that, as without that you cannot install the Android emulator or therefore Viber for PC.However, if you would like to install an Android Emulator which would somewhat allow you to use an Android phone on your computer and download Viber onto your Android Phone, this article would be detailing on how to do it; just follow the simple instructions in the next few paragraphs.
- You would need to install Java as the emulator would run on Java. Do not download some of the useless stuff that Java tends to include like a Yahoo Toolbar, which would slow your internet browsing experience.
- Next you would need to download the Android SDK (http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html). After downloading, unzip the files.
- Using a Windows computer, run the SDK Setup.exe. Once you chose the files that you want to download, the download manager would show up to show you the progress made in installing. This process could take some time depending on your Internet Speed (I got it down in a minute)
- After the download is done, you can set up the Android Emulator by selecting Virtual Drive from the menu on the left and click on the New button to the right
- Enter a name for the emulator and select the desired version that you want.
- After you done all that, you would need to input the size of the SD card that would supposedly form the memory of the emulator.
- Click “Create AVD” after you are finished adjusting the specifications.
- You would have your own Android Emulator after this. Select the emulator then click “Start”. You would be able to choose the display and scale it accordingly.
- The Android OS would then load on your computer. The screen would be on the left with various command keys on the right. The emulator may take up to a few minutes to start up, so be patient.
- You would then be presented with the Android OS after all that. If you want to download Viber into your computer so that you could use Viber on the computer, then follow the next few instructions.
- Open up the browser that you currently possess in the Android Emulator.
- In order to download Viber, download this file from the internet using the android emulator ([http://download.viber.com/viber.apk])
- After the whole download process is finished, you would then be able to open the Viber app in your Android Emulator
- This would allow you to use the fantastic Viber on your home computer, whenever you want to message or talk to friends using your computer.
One thing to note, however. The Android Emulator may be buggy as you are using it on the computer. We also suggest you to try out our newer and much easier “ok tested” method to download Viber for PC using bluestacks.
I’m having a problem installing Viber. It’ll get as far as Download Complete, but it keeps telling me that it can’t be installed.
Dear Casper,
Have you tried installing it as an administrator? Right click on the downloaded file and select run as administrator. That way it will be installed. If that does not work either, then you need to download Java on your phone. Read our post to install Java.
Thank you for your comment.
On my Phone? I want it on my P. C.
Nope, same result.
Can you please tell me what is your operating system?
Windows 7 Professional, on a Dell Inspiron 15R with Service Pack 1.
I can insert my Sim Card into the Laptop, probably a stupid question, I know but would it work that way?
No, that would not help.
Doesn’t matter, Dell didn’t put the Hardware in, spent nearly an Hour trying to retrieve my Sim Card from inside the Outer Casing of the Laptop. Gonna try it now.
Still the same. I’ve taken some Snap Shots of the Emulator. Is there any specific Settings or Values I need to Input when I’m Creating it in the Emulator? That could be what’s going wrong. Other then that, I’m stumped.

Hello Admin,
I have Java already installed on my laptop and I use Windows XP SP2.
However, I am also unable to install the Viber App on my Emulator. I have managed to download the APP but it fails to install. I have no idea why.
You advised to somone to right click and install/run as “Administrator”? However, nothing happens when I righ click my mouse while I am on Android Emulator screen. Can you please advice how to make the right click happen and install it as administrator?
Also, can you please advice how I can increase the internal memory of the emulator because its terribly slow!
Appreciate your help

Open your SDK manager and ensure that you’ve installed ARM EABI v7a System Image under the Android 4.2 section.
Hello,
Can you please help me? I have installed the emulator, Android 4.0.3 and downloaded viber.apk but when I press on it from the slide down window, it says ‘Unfortunately, the process android.process.media has stopped’ and wouldn’t install. I went to Downloads and clicked install from there, but after a bit it says ‘Application not installed’ I have been trying again and again for one whole night. Can you help?
Thank you.
Dear Sabe,
It should not be the problem. We tried it again and it worked fine. The only difference could be we have ooVoo on our PC. We read somewhere that some of the APIs that ooVoo use can help you setup viber.apk. Can you try installing it here is the link and making a test call? also, try updating your Windows software through Windows update if this does not work.
After about three hours and after downloading all sorts of SDK aplications I still am no closer to having a Viber emulator. Why???
Dear Anthony,
All our readers were able to install it. You must be skipping a step there. Please try again.
I got exact the same issue as of Sabe when I tried to install viber.apk. But I was successful to install other apk like sudoku.apk. Please let me know if anyone has idea to solve the issue.
Thank you.

Dear Kenje,
We are working on something even better to get Viber for PC. We are also going to post a tutorial of how to install Viber for PC. Please wait for our new video tutorial on viber for pc.
thanks a lot!
Hi everyone, thanks for this wonderful Emulator. I was reading all the comments, I haven’t seen someone says; It is working !… at least I suppose to see three or four happy for having this program working. I hear complaints only. Anyone can help to see if I can use Viber on PC? is there anyone except the admin make it work?
thanks for the admin. sweet program
Dear Hasan,
Once everyone get it working they don’t come back. Someone, however wrote a long letter which we are converting into a post that you will see soon :) here.
Dear Admin and readers,
1- Reading all the comments, trying more than 20 different senarios/times -different hours, over 2 months- to install Viber on emulator the results is the same- “app is not installed”.
From all the responses of the Admin, especially to Hasan”Dear Hasan,Once everyone get it working they don’t come back” and the right click on the app to play it as administrator to install it, imply the admin and his post offer zero help/info on how to make install Viber on emulator.
they offer good help on installing only the emulator.
I hope you learn and post helpfull correct material.
I would like to communicate with you=Hasan Abu Yahya, and Abdul
Thanks
Dear D,
I understand how frustrating it can get if you cannot get it working. That is why I created a video in this post where I use an easier solution with a better chance of it working. Will you please try that and let me know if it did not work for you?
Also, try installing ooVoo beforehand as that seem to solve the problem with some APIs. It is working just fine and I am able to communicate with all my friends using Viber, that was the whole point of starting this website. Trust me it works and it will work for you too. Just have little more faith in technology and patience.
I had the same result. I installed the android simulator (installing only SDK platform ANDROID 4.1 & arm EABI (without couldn’t be installed) but with Viber it start installation but ends writing APPLICATION NOT INSTALLED DONE

I have a Asus Transformer 300T, without 3g, and I want to install Viber, but it continues telling me that the device doesn`t work with viber.
Anyone have the solution?? Please…
I’m having a trouble installing Viber. It tells “Viber could not be installed on this phone.” And I couldn’t right-click on the downloaded viber.apk file.
Hi,
I downloaded the Android SDK and installed it. But after that I dont understand what I have to do, especially how to install the Android Emulator by selecting Virtual Drive.
I even tried to install viber on my computer, but i’m not successfully with it. I used the “How to Install Viber for pc in 5 minutes – Download and install” on youtube. But when I try to download “Youwave” its takes to long to download and it gets stopped by the network.
Could you please help me to install it properly. Thanks in Advance.
Dear Sully,
This method works for a lot of computers but some PC users have claimed that there are issues with this method on some PCs even if you have installed ooVoo. Therefore, we suggest you to try our other (newer) method to get Viber on your PC.
I have installed the emulator and am trying to download viber. It says that I need an SD card?!?

Dear Sepp,
Please try the newer method now. That is much easier to get Viber on your PC.
